The EU Health Coalition, welcomes the adoption of the European Commission’s “Choose Europe for #Life #Sciences” #Strategy and the recognition of the sector as a cornerstone of Europe’s health security, economic resilience, and global competitiveness. The Strategy touches on several important areas for Europe’s life sciences ecosystem, including increased attention to translational research and innovation, steps towards more coordinated governance, new initiatives on digital and data-driven health innovation, and measure to support multi-country clinical trials. These elements align with the Coalition’s vision of a thriving European life sciences ecosystem that delivers for people, economies, and societies. We particularly welcome the establishment of a Life Sciences Coordination Board within the European Commission, which well reflects the call from the Coalition in view of the European elections 2024 to establish an EU Health and Life Science Office. This Board offers a much-needed mechanism to connect policymaking across sectors and directorates, ensure strategic alignment, connect with stakeholders and support the coherent implementation of life sciences policy across health, research, digital, and industrial domains. Our workshop on Data and #AI in #Healthcare continues and we are honored to welcome Mr Keyrellous Adib from WHO Regional Office for Europe. His participation brings invaluable expertise to our discussions on how digital innovation can drive better, safer, and more equitable healthcare across #Europe. As AI continues to transform the #health sector, collaboration with international organizations like WHO ensures we keep #patient #care, ethics, and public health at the center of #innovation. Together with stakeholders from across Europe, we are shaping a future where #data and technology work for #patients — not the other way around. Our joint UEHP/ Relyens en France workshop “Data & #AI in #healthcare, welcome to reality!” kicks off today in Brussels. We start with two high-level speakers from the European Commission, Mrs Saila Rinne - Head of Unit at DG CNECT and Mr Yiannos Tolias - Legal lead on AI & AI liability at DG SANTE EU Health and Food Safety. They will give us a comprehensive overview of the regulatory framework for generative AI in #EU, an update on the Commission’s initiatives and #funding opportunities on AI as well as the presentation of the preliminary findings of the Commission’s study on the deployment of AI in #health. 🌎 🩺 𝗔𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP), 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 PALMED - Patronatul Furnizorilor de Servicii Medicale Private, 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗮 - 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮. On the occasion of its 18th anniversary, the Romanian Association of Private Healthcare Providers (PALMED) approved a very important position paper that supports the preservation of a model of incremental development of health legislation and regulations that allows insurers and public and private providers (P&P) to adapt and develop rapidly within a predictable framework. I congratulate PALMED and its president, Cristian Hotoboc, on their work and the example they set as an association. Let me reinsure the message that I left in European terms: “Either we continue to treat private healthcare as a peripheral actor — underfunded, undervalued and underutilized — or we embrace it as an equal partner in building the healthcare systems that Europe needs and deserves. Private hospitals are ready. But we need a framework that allows us to do so — fairly, effectively, and sustainably. Let us work together — not separately."

Our Secretary General, Ms Ilaria Giannico, joined today’s panel discussion on the evolving role of private #hospitals and private #insurance in #cancer care, in the framework of the 10th annual World Cancer Series Europe organised in Brussels by The Economist. Collaboration across sectors is essential to delivering more equitable, effective, and patient-centered cancer #care. Private hospitals are key partners in the fight against cancer, delivering innovative solutions and high-quality treatments. However, they face several structural, legal, financial, and clinical challenges that can limit their ability to treat cancer #patients as comprehensively as public hospitals. Private providers are collaborators in a shared mission: to deliver timely, high-quality, and compassionate cancer care - regardless of background, geography, or income. #uehp #cancer #privatehospitals

🏆🏥Our Spanish member, ASPE, brings the major #European event for #private #healthcare to #Madrid: the #European Private #Hospitals Awards 2025! Since its creation in 2022, the European Private Hospitals Awards (EPHA) have established itself as the main European event promoting and recognizing excellence in the private #hospital sector. Glad to represent the European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP) at the 10th plenary meeting of the #ehealth stakeholder group, co-chaired by European Commission DG SANTE and DG CNECT. Looking forward to listening to the presentations on the next steps for the #European #Health Data Space #EHDS implementation, as well as on other key initiatives such as the #cancer imaging, the 1+M #genomes, the #cybersecurity plan for #healthcare providers and the latest developments on #AI in #health.
